2nd Annual Food Drive Update

On December 12th-22nd, Donegal FBLA Members, students among the high school, and teachers collected non-perishable food items for the Mount Joy Food Bank.

The Food Drive is held around the holidays to support this community when the need food is high. Homerooms in each grade competed to win a small prize, and each of the three individual top contributors earned gift cards to Amazon.

While donating to the food bank, Donegal FBLA was able to make a positive contribution to the Food Bank, which took in nearly 700 items.  Donegal High School and Donegal FBLA are proud to support the Mount Joy Food Bank and make sure those in need are always supported.

Happy Holidays!

17 Donegal Students Qualify for State Competition

On December 19th, Donegal FBLA Members, took part in the Region 18 FBLA Competition to showcase their knowledge of business and use the material they have learned, studied, and absorbed through classes.

In order to compete in this FBLA competition, students either took a one-hour online test with a hundred questions and answered them to the best of their ability within that given time period, or being given a topic and coming up with an organized presentation individually or with a group; meeting all criteria and presenting the business side of their presentation to a panel of in-depth business men and women as it could apply to their real world occupation.

Due to the hard work of these students and their diligence to strive for greatness within business, 17 of our competing regional applicants have advanced to the state competition round in Hershey PA of April 2017.

2016 Santa Breakfast

The Santa Breakfast 2016 was an awesome event that successfully brought our FBLA club together to achieve a common goal; serve the community. The event drew in those from the community with younger children and allowed us as high school students to interact with them. “It was nice to see children experience the joy of sitting on Santa’s lap,” says Kobe Bistline, senior parliamentarian for FBLA. Mr. Haldeman, Donegal High School’s assistant principal, was kind enough to dress as Santa again this year, and the kids all loved interacting with him. We had an awesome turnout this year, and there was a constant flow of people in and out of the fellowship hall. There was also a significant increase in member attendance this year. With so many of our members there, it made accomplishing the large task easier; we all worked together to get hundreds of pancakes made and cups of coffee, juice, and milk served. As a business club, it was great to see our efforts raise money for Usher Syndrome Coalition  and the National Kidney Foundation. We raised a total of approximately $400, split between these two great organizations. Overall, it was a wonderful experience and a blessing for each one of us who was able to help out.
