Regional Leadership Conference 2011

For the second consecutive year the Donegal FBLA brought home some hardware from the Regional Leadership Conference.  Thirteen students will make the trip to the state competition in Hershey, Pennsylvania and vie for a chance to qualify for Nationals.

The club will begin fundraising efforts to support the cost of the trip within the next week.  If you are interested in making a contribution, please contact me or Joan Gorlaski, at the high school.

FBLA Members Active at DHS

The Future Business Leaders of America Club has taken an active role at Donegal High School this year. The club is led by co-presidents Laura Gebhart and Niccia Griffin-McKinney, vice president Duane Brackbill, Secretary Patrick Moran, Treasurer Jordan Simpkins, and Historians Andrea Melhorn and Aimee Stehman. During the weekly meetings members learn about Parliamentary Procedure and discuss the characteristics of becoming good business leaders. Along with the educational aspect of the club, the members have contributed to the community by painting pumpkins for a local retirement home and Hospice, sponsoring a food drive and participating in Winterfest. Some of their more recent activities included hosting Breakfast with Santa to benefit the family of a recently injured DHS student. Members of the club were also given the opportunity to experience both an exciting and educational day in Washington, D.C. The Washington Wizards opened its stadium to high school students for a Sports Career Expo where students were able to learn about sports management and and marketing first-hand from top executives working for the Wizards. In addition to the activities named above, students in FBLA are preparing to compete in business-related events at the regional conference for a chance to move on to state and possibly national competition.
